PE Blue Tape for Screen Printing Frame
PE Blue Tape for Screen Printing Frame
In screen printing, PE blue tape for attaching the screen frame is a specially designed auxiliary material whose properties are highly compatible with the needs of the printing process. Its main function is to fix the screen to the frame, seal the edges to prevent ink from leaking out, and at the same time to protect the frame and facilitate its later dismantling.
PE blue adhesive tapes are based on polyethylene and have good flexibility and chemical resistance. The surface of the tape is usually coated with a layer of high-adhesive pressure-sensitive adhesive. The thickness of the adhesive layer is optimized to ensure a tight fit to the frame (metal or wood) and screen (nylon, polyester, etc.), as well as to minimize residues when removed at a later stage. The blue color is its signature color, which makes it easy to identify the paste range in operation and also differentiates it from the screen and ink colors.

Advantages of the tape are as follows,
- High adhesion and sealing: The adhesive layer has strong adhesion and can closely fit the contact surface of the frame and screen, effectively preventing the ink from leaking from the edge gaps during printing, ensuring the clarity of the printed pattern and the neatness of the edges.
- Solvent resistance: PE substrate and adhesive layer have a certain degree of resistance to solvents commonly used in screen printing (such as alcohol, esters, ketones, etc.), and are not easy to dissolve and fail due to contact with inks or cleaning agents.
- Flexibility and Adhesion: PE tape is soft and can be deformed with the curvature or corners of the mesh frame to fit various shapes of mesh frames (square, round, etc.), especially suitable for sealing non-planar or shaped mesh frames.
- Easy to tear off and low residue: During screen replacement or frame maintenance, the tape can be easily torn off with less adhesive residue, which reduces the cleaning burden on the frame and prolongs the service life of the frame.
- Temperature resistance: Our PE tape can withstand slight temperature changes in the screen printing process, for example, low temperature in the drying process. And is not easy to peel off or aging due to heat.
In screen printing process, our tape can be used in these three methods. After the screen is taut, tape it along the inside or outside of the frame to reinforce the connection between the screen and the frame and prevent the screen from loosening during printing. It also can be used to cover the gap between the screen and the frame to avoid ink oozing out from the edges to contaminate the frame or the printed matter, especially suitable for high-precision printing. Blue PE tape can effectively protest our screen printing frame. Reduce the direct contact of inks and solvents with the mesh frame to prevent moisture, corrosion or abrasion of the mesh frame.

When using PE blue tape, firstly we need to choose the suitable size. According to the size of the mesh frame and the width of the edge seam, choose the appropriate width (5-50mm common) and length of the tape, it is recommended to give preference to the products with no air bubbles and uniform adhesive surface.
Next, prepare alcohol, non-woven cloths or rags for cleaning the mesh frame and razor blades or tape cutters to cut the tape. Check the frame and wire mesh: make sure that the frame is not deformed and the surface is flat; the wire mesh has been stretched and initially fixed according to the standard tension.
Thoroughly clean the mesh frame taping area: wipe the inside and outside of the mesh frame with a rag soaked in alcohol to remove oil, dust, wood chips or adhesive residues left by the old tape. Wait until the surface of the mesh frame is completely dry before pasting to avoid moisture affecting the adhesion of the tape.
Usually stick along the inside edge of the mesh frame. The tape needs to cover the contact seam between the screen and the mesh frame. That is to say, half of the tape is applied to the mesh frame and half of the tape is applied to the screen to form a "sealing tape". If the mesh frame is made of metal with sharp edges, it is recommended to apply a layer of narrow tape (e.g. 5mm wide) to cushion the edges of the mesh frame before applying the main tape, to avoid the screen from being scratched.
Through standardized operation, PE blue tape can effectively play the role of fixing and sealing, reduce printing defects, and extend the service life of the frame and screen.

FAQ:
1. Q: What is PE Blue Tape?
A: It's a low-tack, solvent-resistant tape specifically for screen printing. Its main purpose is to seal the edge between the mesh and frame to prevent ink bleed and allow for easy clean-up.
2. Q: Why can't I use regular tape instead?
A: Regular tape is often too sticky, leaving residue when removed, and isn't solvent-resistant. It can break down, curl, and create a sticky mess when exposed to printing inks and cleaners.
3. Q: How do I apply it correctly?
A: Clean the frame, then apply the tape so half sticks to the flat frame and the other half seals onto the very edge of the mesh. Burnish it down firmly to ensure a complete seal.
